Fields of Nectar 30" Parasol - Modelo 12 pattern

This parasol is 30" in diameter featuring bright, summery colors that begin with yellow at the center which fades in a gradient through orange, pink, lavender, and finally blue. This four-ply yarn changes one strand at a time resulting in long, languid color changes. 

I've used a vintage filet crochet pattern originally printed in Portuguese and called Modelo 12 that was meant to be a 72" tablecloth to construct this parasol. While only part of the pattern is represented here, it's lovely with many complex motifs. 

This yarn is OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified. This certification means the yarn has been tested for harmful substances that may occur in harvesting, processing, or dyeing the yarn. Cotton is a remarkably dirty crop to work with and while OEKO-TEX isn't perfect, it is better. Beyond the OEKO-TEX certification Scheepjes also use recycled water to process their yarns and recycle 95% of that water for use again. The 5% of water that isn't reused is treated with molasses, yogurt, and manure to ensure it's safe to return to their local environment. 

This parasol has 8 arms and a manual opener. You'll find an aluminum main shaft with a curved yellow plastic handle and fittings for the top and arm tips. Please take care to ensure the arm tips aren't caught in the doily before using the automatic opener.

While it won't keep the rain off your head, this parasol will diminish the sun's rays and help bring whimsy to your life.
